Ryoko (Mizoguchi) Moran, 82, of Short Gap, WV passed away at her home on February 19, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 8, 1942 to the late Katsuaki and Tamae Mizoguchi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Hitomi Mizoguchi.

Ryoko was a 1960 graduate of Ootsu High School in Yokohama, Japan, and worked as a sales clerk in the upscale Takashimaya Department Store. Upon relocating to the United States, she was a stay-at-home mother, and during her daughter's high school years was an avid and active volunteer with the Frankfort High School Band Boosters. On many occasions she was asked to speak to area students who were studying Japanese culture. She enjoyed reading (in both Japanese and English), shopping, and visiting with friends and family.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert Michael Moran; a daughter, Margi Moran Joe and husband Eric of Hedgesville, WV; step-grandchildren, Derek Joe and wife Johanna of Virginia Beach, VA, Jessica Joe of Frederick, MD, and Jeremy Joe and wife Skylar of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Katsuya Mizoguchi of Tokyo, Japan; a sister, Sanae Sanno and husband Yoshimi of Yokohoma, Japan; nephews, Masami Sanno, Hidekatsu Mizoguchi, Nobukatsu Mizoguchi; and a large extended family.

Visitors will be welcomed on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 12pm to 2pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD. A celebration of Ryoko's life will immediately follow with her daughter Margi Joe officiating.
