S. Amory Hetrick, 72, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, April 3, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Cancer.

Born August 9, 1950, in Baltimore, Amory was the daughter of the late Charles Gary Hauver and Caroline Lorraine Streeter. She was preceded in death by her sister Susan Kerry Hauver.

Surviving are her beloved son Tyler John Hetrick and wife Christina of Cash Valley; grandson, Bentley and brother, Matthew; her sister, Linda and husband Frank Darcey III of Moab, Utah. She is also survived by her nieces Carrie Klepzig, Chris Brown, and their families.

Due to her parents' careers, Amory spent her childhood traveling and living in San Francisco, Saipan, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea. Amory graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD. She earned her teaching degree from Frostburg State University, and returned there for her Masters +. Amory taught in Mineral County for 33 years.

She taught grades 1-4 at Fort Ashby Primary, Short Gap, and Frankfort Intermediate School. She was a very involved teacher and she served on many committees, but it was the teaching and the students that she loved the most.

She keeps up with former students, and is always excited to hear about their successes. She was honored to be in Who's Who Among America's Teacher's several times, because you have to be selected by a former student. Teaching to her was a compassion.

Amory's greatest love was being a mother to her son Tyler. She also enjoyed photography, scrapbooking, reading, crocheting, and quilting. She adored the many cats she had in her life.

She had some friends whom she was extremely thankful for helping her in her cancer battle. Her gratitude goes out Raegan Hawk, Judy Schlemmer, Deb Orton, and a very special thank you to her close friend Jola Cannon who was there through thick and thin.

A private service will be held by the family.
