Cresaptown, MD – Sandra Elizabeth Cook, 66, of Cresaptown passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at UMPC- Western MD.
Born March 19, 1957, she was the daughter of the late James Pitzer Walton and Mary Catherine (Dick) Walton. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lindbergh D. Cook and mother-in-law, Mary Angela (Hauser) Cook; brother-in-law, Russell W. Cook; nephew, James Pitzer Walton III; and best friend, Tina Vonstein.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James D. Cook, of 43 years who continuously cared for her during her long battle with myelofibrosis; their children, Andria Cook, Jennifer (Cook) Hall and husband Robert; grandchildren, Amelia Hall, Brielle Hall and Brinley Hall; sister, Linda O'Neal and husband Jim; brother, James Pitzer Walton and wife Becky; brother -in-law, David Cook; sister-in-law, Linda (Cook) Ketterman and husband Lee; special niece, Staci Walton; and nieces, Kimberly, Marci, Brianne and Kadey; nephews, Jimmy, Johnny and Russell; great niece, Savannah; and great nephews, Keegan and Oliver; as well as other longtime friends.
She graduated from Allegany High School, class of 1975. In her earlier years, she had a passion for sewing. She enjoyed her years working in the sewing factory. Baking and cooking for her family and friends also brought joy to her life. She really enjoyed her years working in the cafeteria at both Allegany High School and Cresaptown Elementary School where she loved to interact with all students. Even though she didn't feel well for years, she always loved being around people and talking to everyone. What brought the most happiness to Sandi's life was spending time with her beloved daughters, Andria and Jennifer; and grandchildren, Amelia, Brielle and Brinley, who were all the lights of her life.
Per her request her body was cremated.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00PM at Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown. A funeral service will follow at 7:00PM with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr. officiating.
Special thanks to Dr. Mavromatis and staff with the Oncology Dept./ Cancer Center of UPMC- Western MD, as well as the ICU Dept and Comfort Care Floor for making her comfortable in her final days.
