RAWLINGS – Scott William Wharton, 59, of Rawlings, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021, at his residence. Born January 24, 1962, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late William Paul and Mary Jane (Martin) Wharton. Scott was a 1980 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was an extremely talented welder and pipefitter who spent as much time working on projects for himself and others as he did working during his long career at the Luke Paper Mill. While welding was his career, Scott's true passions were hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. He was always offering to share the latest haul of fresh vegetables from his garden or meat from his freezer. Over the last 10 years, Scott became a regular in the tailgate lot at Mountaineer Field, often riding the PRT with his beloved dog, Copper, zipped up in his jacket. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ryan Wharton, and Dustin Wharton; fiancée, Barbara Ronk, and her sons, Noah, Cobun, and Stanton; brothers, Steve Wharton and wife, Peggy, and Dave Wharton and wife, Vicki; along with his nieces and nephews, Holly Wageley, Adam Wharton, Dan Wharton and wife Becky, Chelsie Morasko and husband Vinny, Jessica Wharton, and Jade Gerhard and husband Josh. Scott will forever be remembered as a loving father, significant other, brother, uncle, and friend who was always willing to go out of his way to help someone. In accordance with his wishes, Scott's body will be cremated.
