CUMBERLAND – Sharon Suzanna "Sherry" Hyson, 84, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at her daughter's home.

Born March 12, 1940, in Elkins, WV, she was a daughter of the late Warren Benjamin Hyson and Nellie Madelean (Shaffer) Hyson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnnie Ray Hyson; son-in-law, Felix Perkins; and dear friend, Donna Jean Liller.

Sherry was a 1959 graduate of Fort Hill High School and went on to work as a CNA at Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful member of the Cumberland Seventh-day Adventist Church and also belonged to multiple community and school-related organizations. Always a devoted mother and homemaker, she was a kind, gracious, and forgiving person who entertained many guests in her home. Her children's friends were always welcome. A talented cook and artist, Sherry grew and preserved her own food and passed down that knowledge to her children.

Sherry leaves behind her children, Carissa Perkins and Bubby Lewis and spouse, Sophie Arrick Lewis; granddog, Blue Perkins; grandchildren, Alexander H. Lewis, Elliott Arrick, and Benjamin D. Bowers; great-grandchild, Macie Amelia Fosdick; sister, Sandra Kay (Hyson) Shook and late spouse, Shannon; dear friend, Pat Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cumberland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12235 Williams Rd, Cumberland, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 5pm. Food and fellowship to follow.
