CUMBERLAND Sheril H. Horton, 82, of Bel Air, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, April 6, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.Born November 8, 1935, in Ely, Nevada, she was the daughter of the late James Rees and Florence (Jackson) Holman. She was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Shirley; sister, Maude; young brother, Irving; and brothers, Don, Mearl, and Voin.Sheril met her husband, Pat, in first grade, and they sat together, in alphabetical order, throughout grade school. They both worked at Wilson Bates furniture store in Ely, Nevada. Later, Sheril was a secretary for 21 years. For 19 of those years, she worked in Cumberland, MD, for Dr. Hadidian and Dr. Pillai and was Employee Health Secretary for Sacred Heart Hospital. She became a self-employed Certified Foot Reflexologist for many years before retiring at age 78. Her Reflexology was such a rewarding field, and she also loved working in the medical.Vacations were spent traveling out west to meet relatives and camping and fishing with friends and relatives at Indian River Bay, Delaware. Sheril was an avid canasta player since 1964, and she both attended and hosted parties for her canasta group. Sheril loved attending family parties and holiday get-togethers. She adored her family, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and pets.Sheril was a warm, compassionate person who never met a stranger. She was always encouraging and complimenting people. "I just want to let you know you're doing a really good job" is what she told people both family and strangers daily. Her positive, caring presence will be missed greatly.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Patrick M. Horton; children, C. Terese Horton, Cumberland, Lori Horton Braithwaite and husband Billy, LaVale, David Horton and wife Karen, Rawlings, Janene Horton Kaiser and husband Ricky, Rawlings; grandchildren, Kurt Horton and Tiffany, Allison Horton Cox and husband Ryan, Jesse Horton, Dylan Horton, Zachary Braithwaite and wife Kendra, Jaclyn Braithwaite Jacobson and husband Cole, Max Simpson, Cole Simpson, and Ricky Lee Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Kenny, Kaylynn, and Hailey; sisters, Luana Coleman Ring, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Fae Hill, Cypress, CaliforniaIn accordance with Sheril's wishes, her body will be cremated. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 4 to 5 pm. A memorial service will be conducted immediately afterward at 5 pm with Pastor Steve Leydig officiating.
