Obituary

CUMBERLAND Shirley Ann (Boswell) D'Atri, 80, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Lions Center Nursing Home in Cumberland, after a long 14-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.Born September 14, 1936, in Moorefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Norma and Paul Nycum, Cumberland, MD, and Roy Boswell, Moorefield, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Helen and Dominic D'Atri, Cumberland, MD.A loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt, she was always available day or night to lend a helping hand or to give advice to anyone. She was very outgoing and friendly, and never met a stranger.Shirley graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1955 and was proud of her school's many accomplishments over the years. She worked at the Celanese Fibers CO and several area super markets as a cashier and in the meat department.She is survived by her husband of 60 years, who never missed a day visiting her in the nursing home in the last eight years, Donald Anthony D'Atri, Cumberland; daughter, Tammy Lynn (D'Atri) Gordon and husband Roger and family, Cresaptown; sister, Rita (Nycum) Hardy and husband Lynn and family, Cresaptown; special niece, Amy Wilson and partner Jim Tester and children, Cresaptown; special great-niece, Katney Kavanaugh, Cresaptown; brother-in-law, David and Barb D'Atri, FL, and family, Cumberland; last remaining aunt, Maria Bowers, Cumberland, and son, Tommy Bowers, FL; and numerous cousins.The family would like to thank Dr. Sidhu and the staff at Lions Center Nursing Home for the past eight years of care given to Shirley.At her request, Shirley's funeral will be private with all proceedings and arrangements handled by Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, MD.
