LAVALE - Shirley J. (Davis) Fraembs, 84, of LaVale, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at Cumberland Healthcare Center.
Born October 16, 1941, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Samuel A. Davis and Edna (Schell) Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin VanMeter; brothers, Paul Davis, James "Jim" Davis, William "Bill" Davis, and Richard Davis; sister, Jeannette Davis; sister-in-law, Hazel Davis.
Shirley was a 1959 graduate of Fort Hill High School and attended Catherman's Business School following graduation. She worked as a secretary for the Allegany County Board of Education. Shirley was a member of Cumberland Pentecostal Holiness Church. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and reading. She had an especially great love for animals, and she always kept pets.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband, Cliff Fraembs; children, Brenda Ruppenkamp (Mark) and Debbie Fitch (Jimmy); grandchildren, Dustin Rice, Kayla Demarco, Noel VanMeter, and Megan Martineau; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Davis (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Betty Davis; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11am to 1pm. A funeral will immediately follow at 1pm with Pastor Phil Cheek officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
