CUMBERLAND – Shirley M. Steward, 88, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 4, 1935, in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Edward M. Adams and Nellie (Hunter) Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Steward, Sr.; and sister, Betty Hunter.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She went on to work as a bookkeeper for Jake Wilson Trucking. A Methodist by faith, Shirley attended Oldtown Methodist Church for a time. In her free time, she liked to read.

Shirley leaves behind her children, John Steward and wife, Jodie, Robert Steward, Jr. and wife, Bonnie, and Sheila Humbertson; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is entrusted with arrangements.

In accordance with her wishes, Shirley will be privately interred at MD State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap, with her husband.
