LaVale—Sondra Kay "Sonnie" Mastrino, 75, of LaVale, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland with her family at her side.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on September 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Leland H. and Evelyn Grace (McGaughy) Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leland J. Taylor.

Sonnie was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1965. While in high school, she was a member of the bowling club, Glee Club, Tri-Hi-Y, and she was in many theatrical productions at the school. After high school, Sonnie attended Tri State Beauty Academy. She was employed as a beautician in the area, and she was co-owner of 50 E Dirt Late Model Car Series where she and her husband, Richard, were featured in the center fold of Dirt Track Magazine. Sonnie was also co-owner of Standard Office Equipment from 1977 until 2005. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Our Lady of Mountains Parish. She was devoted to her cats, Barney and Penny.

Sonnie is survived by her husband, Richard J. Mastrino; sisters, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Moore and husband, Dan, and Mary L. Phillips and husband, Mike. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1-4 P.M. The Rosary will be recited that day at 4 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 24, 2022 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10 A.M. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Family has requested that those attending the visitation and funeral service wear a facial mask.
