Obituary

Stella Mae (Monnett) Bauman-Neilson, 86, of Cumberland, MD passed away October 31, 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland.

Stella was born Feburary 14, 1938 in Cumberland to the late Norman and Julia (Chaney) Monnett. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by first husband, Robert Bauman; her second husband, Harry Neilson; and her fiancé, Lester "Bill" Haines; two sons, Jeffrey Bauman and Robert Stephen Bauman; and she was the last of her ten siblings.

Stella worked as a waitress, and then on to work in retail at Grant's Department Store from their opening to their closing, then Hills Department Store until their closing, and Ames Department Store until her retirement.

She loved singing in the church choir at Memorial Heights Baptist Church and supporting veterans with various organizations. Above all else she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, a daughter, Deborah Smith and husband Randy of Bedford, PA, a son, Michael Bauman and wife Michelle of Claysburg, PA, and daughter Kimberly Morlen and husband Danny II of Wiley Ford, WV; stepson, Harry Neilson and wife Billie of Short Gap, WV; stepdaughter, Kathy Neilson Of FL; twenty three grandchildren, Randy, Greg, Stephanie, Sabrina, Michael, Jereme, Ashley, Kayla, Athena, Austin, Autmn, Rose, Leishka, Kalisha, Charielys, Destiny, Amber, Michael, Katelyn, Danny, Marie, Harry, and Michael; forty six great-grandchildren; Destiny, Tyler, Emily, Kylee, Meaghan, Christopher, Joey, Johnny, Jesse, Sadye, Cody, Coltyn, Colby, Kurina, Emily, Avery, Michael, Jordynn, Mikalynn, Mikenlee, Mikylaah, Braydale, Jasmine, Landon, Alexis, Meleka, Bransen, Kylen, Keyonah, Lyniah, Addalee, Lynlee, Shawn, Zane, Paetyn, Silas, Emmett, Levi, DeLuca, Cade, Paige, Mason, Logan, Lylah, Adalynn, Waylynn, Zeke, and Calvin; nine great-great-grandchildren, Colby, Aiden, Noah, Zaylyn, Oaklyn, Everlee, Emerson, Madilyn, and Ezra; a special granddaughter, Whitney Richard;  and a very large extended family.

Visitation will be Monday, November 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor D.J. Ritchie officiating.

Burial will be in Lechliter-Monnett Cemetery in Short Gap, WV
