LaVale – Stephen "Steve" George McCray, 73, of LaVale, formerly of Flintstone and Upper Marlboro, Maryland, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

Born July 31, 1951, in the Philippines, he was the son of the late George R. and Patricia (Brooks) McCray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois (Partlow) McCray and his sister, Dr. Jennifer McGiverin.

Steve was a 1969 graduate from Flintstone School and later graduated Frostburg State University. He was a teacher in Prince George County, Maryland.

Steve retired from the Metro Transit System in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed spending time with his great-niece, Sophia.

He is survived by his brother, Jeff McCray and wife, Bonnie; nieces, Megan and Kellie, and his nephews, Collins and Brian.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.

The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to the Comfort Keeper Caregivers and the kindness of the UPMC Hospice staff and Pastor Seth Wharton over the past month of his life.
