Obituary

Cumberland – Terence "Terry" Gowland Workman, 75, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at UPMC – Western Maryland.

Born June 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Donald Atlee and Delegate Betty Workman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Jeff Miller.

Terry was a 1966 graduate of Allegany High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Memphis. From August 1988 to July 2015, he was a technical education teacher at Fort Hill High School.

He enjoyed gardening, playing music, and spending time with his family. In 1973, he started the legendary Chinese Bandits and played the keyboard and the harmonica. He has also played with the band The Invaders.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Paula Jean (Recny) Workman; son, T. Christopher Workman; step-daughters, Charity (Shelley), Rachael Taylor, Billie Jo Swauger (Jim); his grandson who was the light of his life, Austin Campbell (Sydney Morgan); and sister, Brenda Hendrick (Larry).

The family would like to thank special friends Carolyn and Wayne Francis for their help in caring for Terry during his lifelong illness.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.

A celebration of Terry's life will be held at a later date.
