Thelma Elizabeth (Growden) Moyer, 97, of Apex, NC, formerly of Ocala, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh, NC.

Born July 11, 1928 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Margaret Catherine (Eichner) Growden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, William Franklin "Frank" Moyer; sisters, Leona Walters and husband Jim and Doris Growden; and brothers, William and Carl Growden and wife Mary Jo.

Thelma was a 1947 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She worked in the kitchen at Cumberland Memorial Hospital for many years. Thelma also worked at Giant Foods as a cashier.

Thelma enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was a member of of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Ocala, Florida.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Kathy Brown and husband Kevin; her grandson, Reece Brown; brother-in-law, Jim Shaffer; sister-in-law, Darlene Moyer; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends were be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, January 10, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Lark Muncy officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to Transitions LifeCare in 250 Hospice Cir, Raleigh, NC 27607 in honor of Thelma.
