Obituary

CUMBERLAND Thomas Llewellyn "Tom" Green, Sr., 95, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at his residence.Born September 20, 1922, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William Green and Alice (Howser) Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary L. Green; brothers, William Green and wife June, and Bernard Green and wife Mabel; and sister, Kathleen Watson and husband Frank.Tom attended school at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of both St. Mary's and St. Patrick's Catholic Churches. Tom went on to serve in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945, during World War II.Family was the most important part of Tom's life, and traveling with his wife, Mary, was one of Tom's favorite activities. He has finally rejoined her.Tom is survived by daughter, Juanita Louise Steckman and significant other Gary Anderson, Cumberland; son, Thomas L. Green, Jr. and wife Marlene, Cumberland; grandchildren, Bridget Hadley and husband Craig, Patricia Collins and significant other David Smith, Kimberly Black and husband Shawn, Gary Anderson, Shelly Green and significant other Brian Thomas, Stacey Green, and Valerie Green; great-grandchildren, Andrea Blackburn and husband Jason, Kayla Emerick and husband Jesse, Nichole Bishop and husband Travis, Justin Collins and wife Tonya, Adam Collins and significant other Jennifer, Shelby Brooks and husband Randy, Rachel Black and fianc Quintin, Nathan Blume, Brandy Blume, Dayton Thomas, Devin Mowry, Celeste Henry, Charles Somerville, and Landon Somerville; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the WMHS Home Hospice Services for the attentive care they showed Tom.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 11 am with Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap. Military Honors will be accorded by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.Pallbearers will be Craig Hadley, Jason Blackburn, Travis Bishop, Jesse Emerick, Shawn Black, and David Smith.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com.
