Cumberland—Todd Mathew Bowman, 51, of Cumberland, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Born in Cumberland, MD, on April 13, 1971, he was the son of Darrell and Lynn Bowman, of Frostburg, and Joyce and Robert Clark, of Barton.
Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Martha Hansrote, Leola Longerbeam; father-in-law, John Aman.
Todd was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1989. In high school, Todd played basketball and soccer. Following high school, Todd graduated from Allegany College of Maryland with an Associate's Degree. While at Allegany College he was on the soccer team. He then graduated from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Justice Studies. Upon graduation, Todd was employed with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services as a case manager. Todd dedicated his life to working with children in the Maryland Juvenile System. Todd's consistent, therapeutic approach set him apart from others and truly represented his strong, caring, intelligent, and compassionate character. He served in many roles with the agency throughout his career. He retired from the position of superintendent of Green Ridge Youth Center on April 30, 2022; he was honored with two governor's citations for his service to the youth of Maryland.
Todd played soccer and basketball in local adult leagues. Todd loved music, standup comedy, and traveling. Most of all Todd enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in their activities.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Angelique (Aman) Bowman; sons, Blake Bowman and Ana, and Joel Bowman and Asha; brother, Brent Bowman and Marta; mother-in-law, Merry Dean; sisters-in-law, Nissa Aman and Darren Wilson, and Erica Aman; brother-in-law, John Aman; nieces, Abigayle, and Evy; nephews Chase and Christina, Logan, Brock, Dayton, and Zach; grandnephew, Mason. Todd is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502 on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4-7 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Todd's memory may make contributions to a special scholarship fund being organized in his honor through Chessie Federal Credit Union, ATTN: Ben, Corporate Office.
