Dr. Veluppillai Nagulendran, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023, surrounded by his immediate family.

Dr. Nagulendran was born on September 27, 1941 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka where he was raised. He obtained his medical degree at Peradaniya University. Dr. Nagulendran relocated to the United States in 1973 and had resided in Cumberland since 1980. He practiced psychiatry for well over four decades and served thousands of people in this community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nirmalam, his son, Nirmalan, his daughter-in-law, Kavitha, his granddaughter, Meera, and his sister, Pushparanee Nagalingam. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Veluppillai Sivapalasingam.

Dr. Nagulendran will be sorely missed his many friends and relatives. He relished the practice of psychiatry and devoted himself to the care of his many patients. He loved spending time with his family, watching movies from all over the world and, most importantly, being a source of support to those in need.
