LAVALE – Verna R. (Grant) Moon, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at her daughter's home.

Born on April 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late C. Richard and Eva (Burke) Grant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Shroyer; siblings, Amelia Clayton, Mildred Combs, Robert Grant, Bill Grant, Pauline Flanagan, Paul Grant, Dorothy Shimer, Jim Grant.

Verna was a graduate of Allegany High School. She went on to work at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company and King's Department Store. Verna babysat for many years and was affectionately known as "Nana" by her young clients. Most recently, she had been an AVON representative. In her younger years, Verna was an avid bowler who was a member of a few leagues. She also loved to crochet, having handmade Afghan blankets and baby clothing for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Lesta "Jeanie" Abe (James), Judy Tevis (Bill), and Larry Moon (Samantha); grandchildren, Tanya Miller (Dean), Stefanie Liu (Kelly), Christopher Malloy (Gabi), Gloria Malloy, Daniel Shroyer, Grace Moon; great-grandchildren, Riley, Reese, and Rowan Miller, and Tyler Archibald and Claire Liu. Verna was "Nana" to Alex and Olivia Brant.

Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 11am to 12pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
