Obituary

Cumberland—Vernadine "Vern" M. Dicken, 86, of Cumberland, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rowlesburg, WV, on February 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elma L. (Lee) and Harry Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard D. Dicken, Sr.; two sons, Robert Dicken and wife Sharon, and Leonard Dicken; daughter, Patricia L. Mossenburg; great granddaughter, Avery Michaels; brothers, Dick and Buck; and sister, Madeline. Vern was a homemaker, wife, and mother. She attended the Nazarene Church on Valley Road. She is survived by her children, Richard D. Dicken, Jr. and wife Marie, Sharon Stevey and husband Larry, Debbie Miller and husband Eddie, and Larry Dicken and wife Kathy; daughter-in-law, Sandra Dicken; son-in-law, Ken Mossenburg; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 11 AM with Rev. David Dayhoff officiating. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dawn Wolford and her medical staff, Dr. Singh and his medical staff, home hospice, and UPMC Western Maryland.
