Virginia Leah Rizer, 93, of Fort Ashby, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at the CountryHouse Living Facility.

Born April 22, 1933, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Rezin Clyde and Catherine Virginia (Heavner) Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Rizer, Sr.; son, William Rizer Jr.; grandsons, Zane A. Sachs and Tracy A. Belcher; and son in law, Merle Belcher.

Virginia was a 1951 graduate from Ridgeley High School. A housekeeper for John Rannals, and former cashier at the Fruit Bowl. She was a member of the First Church of God where she was in the choir and the church council board of worship. She also helped clean the church.

She is survived by her children; Kenneth Sibley and wife Sydney, Leah Dicken and husband Mark, Melody Sachs and husband John, Amanda Bevacqua and husband, Dennis, Jeanne Clites and husband Jeff, Judy Belcher, Rodney Rizer, and Michael Rizer and wife Wanda; nineteen grandchildren, Kenny, Allison, Melissa, Daniel, Zachery, Elizabeth, Christina, Courtney, Chad, Nicole, Spencer, Benjamin, Dawn, Frank , Dutch, Whitney, Kimberly, Ike, and Amy, great-grandchildren, Levi, Addison, Aria, Alaric, Aden, Willow, Mason, Jade, Gavin, Joel, DJ, and Weston; and one brother, William F. "Sonny" Simpson and wife Louise.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Lintz officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
