Cumberland Walter "Junior" Johnson, 92, of Cumberland passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Western Maryland Health System.Born in Wimer, West Virginia on September 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Walter O. and Argel (Lambert) Johnson. Junior was a Navy Veteran serving on board the Naval War Ship USS Philadelphia during World War II. Following his discharge from the Navy, Junior was employed at the USDA in Beltsville, MD as a Machinist. Junior was also a member of the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13.He was preceded in death by his wife Betty L. (Lee) Johnson; son-in-law, Jim Tkacz; and his sisters-in law, Carol and Shirley Johnson.Junior is survived by his daughter Paula G. Tkacz of Fairfield, CA, and his son Walter Johnson, III and wife Kathleen of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, Jimmy Tkacz, Amber Zetina, Dr. Kimberly Allen, PhD, Warren Johnson, and Brittany Johnson; great grandchildren, Ayden Zetina, Jaxon Zetina, Olivia Tkacz, and Alexus Broom; brothers, Robert R. Johnson, Baltimore and Stanley Johnson, Cumberland.A graveside service will be conducted at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 1 P.M.
