CRESAPTOWN – William "Tyler" Ashton, 31, of Cresaptown, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born August 11, 1993, in Cumberland, he was the son of Joseph and Vicky (Smith) Ashton, of Cresaptown.

Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, paternal grandfather, step-grandfather, aunt, and a cousin to whom he was very close.

Tyler was a 2011 graduate of Allegany High School and the Vo-Tech Center in Cresaptown. He enjoyed tinkering with mechanical items, doing small engine repair, working on lawn mowers, and going to car meets with his Street Devilz family. Of course, his favorite way to pass the time was reaching out to his demolition derby brothers and helping them to build their cars. He even participated in derby himself under the nickname "Wobbles". Tyler loved attending Deadman Derby shows. The participants were more than just fellow derby enthusiasts and more than just a logo on a t-shirt – they were his family.

He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially while fishing and hunting. In fact, he had very recently gotten his first deer just prior to his hospital stay.

Tyler was an extremely giving person who would give you the shirt off of his back. He chose to continue giving even after his passing by being an organ donor.

He leaves behind, in addition to his parents, his sister, Summer Ashton and partner, Cody Brant; paternal grandmother, Carol Ashton-Twigg; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Douglas Smith; special aunt and uncle, Amy and Troy Willison; cousins, Cheyenne Poffenberger and husband Austin and their daughter Kinsley, Brienne Willison and partner Austin, and numerous others; niece, Dixie May; and a little miracle he wasn't able to meet yet. He is also survived by a large family of demolition derby brothers, as well as his Street Devilz brothers and sisters, and special "brothers" and "sisters", Zach Sensabaugh, Dwayne "Butter" Shook, Jerad "Badger" Wengerd, Ronnie "Eliminator" Roach III, Zachary "Big-Z" Jackson, Brittany Shook, Shana Shook, and many others.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 5 to 7pm.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home in Cresaptown on Friday, September 27, at 12pm with the Rev. Patrick Buhrman officiating. Friends will be received from 11am to 12pm.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
