Cumberland William I. "Bill" Capel, Sr., 68, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.Born in Cumberland on March 25, 1951, he was the son of the late George A. and Elsie A. (Dawson) Capel, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives Deborah Mauk and Carol (Dyer) Capel; and brothers, George A. Capel, Jr. and James E. Capel.Bill was a 1969 graduate of Allegany High School. Following high school, he served his country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. He owned and operated Bill's Auto Repair in Cumberland. For over 40 years, he was a truck driver, working for MS Carriers, Oster Trucking, Pitt-Ohio, and Fagan Trucking. Bill received many awards for his safe driving record including the "Million Mile Safety Award" from Pitt-Ohio.Bill is survived by his children, William I. Capel, Jr. and Kim Segnini, Angela Cosner and husband Jerry, and Christina Omani and husband Ruben; sisters, Betty B. Glaze, Shirley J. Jenkins, Patricia Scott, Mary Grant and husband Gary, Martha Capel Delawder and husband Ray, and Alice Winters; grandchildren, Aaronia Capel and fianc Luke Litten, Kristy Capel, Dominaco Capel, Brittanii Dixon, Cayla Cosner, Jonathan Cosner, Justin Cosner, Robby Omani, Bridget Omani, and Brooklynn Omani; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 1 P.M. with Chaplain Bruce McBride officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
