William "Bill" Jacob Shrout, 90, died June 26, 2018, at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, NJ.Bill was born in Cumberland, MD. Shortly after graduating Alleghany High School, he joined the US Navy entering into active service in September 1945, and was honorably discharged in July 1946. He returned to resume his career with the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in Cumberland, MD. In August 1947, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Agnes Watt. Bill and Nancy, as Mary Agnes was called since childhood, lived in several cities through his 44 year railroad career; Jacksonville, FL, Tampa, FL, Wilmington, DE, and Chillicothe, OH where he retired as District Sales Manager, CSX Transportation. His wife passed in July 2006, and Bill returned to Cumberland, MD where Nancy was buried.In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is predeceased by a brother, Donald Gene. Bill is survived by a brother, Vernon; sister-in-law, Valerie; and several nieces and nephews.Bill will be buried next to his beloved Nancy at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD, at a later date.The family wishes to acknowledge Mystic Meadows Nursing and Rehab, Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Bill called this facility "home" since October 2016.
