CUMBERLAND – William Douglas Moon, Jr., a man of God, 73, of Cumberland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
He was born February 1, 1948, in Cumberland. William graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1966 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. After 30 years of working for Pittsburgh Plate Glass as a member of the union, he retired in 2002. He was a faithful member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
William had a great love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and exotic cars. He owned many Corvettes and Harleys in his lifetime.
William was preceded in death by his son, Kurt Douglas Moon; mother, Mildred V. Deter; father, William D. Moon, Sr.; grandmother, Pansy V. Hughes; uncles, Carl and Earl Robinette; two of his beloved pups, Panda and Isabella.
William is survived by his children, William D. Moon, III and wife, Lori, Tambrea Moon Gaba, Tonya Moon Grove, and Melissa A. Moon; sisters, Judy Ann Moon Carnell and Donna Kay Moon Tardiff and Don Budd; step-father, Charles Deter; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. He is also survived by the love of his life, Sheri Moon; and his two pups, Rock and Jewel.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dave Dayhoff officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace St, Cumberland, MD 21502.
