William "Bill" A. Pritts, Jr., 82 of Cumberland, MD went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
He was born June 5, 1944 in Gadsden, AL to the late William and Jeanetta (Martell) Pritts, Sr.
William graduated from Allegany High School with the class of 1962; he was a member of the football team and remained close with his class the rest of his life. He then graduated with a business degree from Allegany Community College and was immediately hired by Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He worked as a senior purchasing agent and remained employed there 33.5 years until the local closure of their corporate offices. Later, he remained active with work at various car dealerships until his full retirement.
He served his country as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. Also, he was very proud of reaching the rank of Eagle Scout and being inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He held the distinct honor of being a Past Master of Ohr Lodge No. 131.
He walked closely with God every day and spent his life ministering to others. He was a Member of LaVale Baptist Church and later attended Central Assembly of God. He helped with the founding of Christian Gathering Church and served as a Pastor.
He had a deep love of reading the Bible and history books, especially the history of WWII; his love of this inspired his daughter's career as a local history professor. Also, he enjoyed movies, golf, and traveling to the beach with his family.
He was all about his family. Surviving him is his wife of 56 years Sue Ellen (Stahle) Pritts; two beloved daughters, Christia Anne Pritts Esq. (Michael Swietkoski) and Professor Cassandra Marie Pritts (Steve Oberlechner); grandchildren, Tiago, Matias, and Elizabeth; a brother, Robert "Bob" Pritts (Rhea); and his cats, Sierra, Leonardo, and Winston.
Visitation will be Friday, September 18th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with his dear friend, Jim Lindsay, officiating.
