OLDTOWN – William Jesse "Bill" Slider, II, 64, of Oldtown, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his residence.
Born July 18, 1957, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late William Jesse Slider, I and Elva Arbutus (McCabe) Slider.
Bill was a 1975 graduate of Oldtown High School. He went on to attend Shepherd College and West Virginia University. He was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 128 in Paw Paw, WV, and he was president of the Maryland Law Dogs motorcycle club. In his spare time, he enjoyed beekeeping. Bill retired as a Maryland State Trooper after many years of service.
Bill leaves behind wife, Debarah Ann (Rowley) Slider; children, William J. Slider, III and wife, Monika, Kasey C. Slider, Nicole King and husband, Ted, and Robert Dettinburn and wife, Erin; grandchildren, Emma Stratton, Sarah Stratton, Rowan Sweitzer, Canyon Dettinburn, and Torin Dettinburn; sisters, Patsy Correll, Sandy Beck, Carla Bolyard, Bonnie Goede, Linda Nelson, and Cheri Talarico; aunt, Effie Slider; uncle, George McCabe; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, August 20, 2021, from 2-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Oldtown, on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Merle Correll officiating and Pastor Barney Piper assisting. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
