CRESAPTOWN – William G. "Smitty" Smith, Jr., 66, of Cresaptown, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at home.

Born May 3, 1956, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William G. Smith, Sr. and Dorothy (Mullan) Smith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Leslie A. Slepetz; and brother, F. Bruce Smith.

Smitty was a graduate of Bishop Walsh School. He worked as a car salesman and was also employed at Backbone Mountain Youth Center.

In the past, before he was sick, Smitty loved camping, boating, and golfing.

Smitty leaves behind his beloved life partner, Carol Ritchie; children, Stacey Baker and life partner, James Whisner, and Randy Ritchie; grandchildren, Taylor Hendershot and husband, Chris, and Camden Ritchie; great-grandchildren, Eira Hendershot, and Shepherd Hendershot; sisters, Kathryn "Doodle" Kravit-Smith and wife, Susan, and Nancy Long and husband, Rodney; nephews, Peyton Long and Ryan Long; niece, Elianna Kravit-Smith; special friends, Ken and Judy Carbone and Mike Drew.

In accordance with his wishes, Smitty's body will be cremated. There will be no formal funeral services.
