William "Bill" Absalom Bucy Liller, Jr., 79, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Cumberland Healthcare Center, Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD, after a courageous battle with cancer.Born on June 30, 1938, in Cumberland, in his family home place on Johnson Road, he was the son of the late William Absalom Bucy Liller, Sr., and Dovie Mae (Springs) Liller. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Jean Somerville, brothers Edgar Earl, David Ernest, and Marvin Allen Liller, and brother-in-law Donald William Blank.He was a Fort Hill High School graduate; formerly employed by Wilson Welding and retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. Upon his wife's retirement, he was employed by the Mallow Landscaping Company for a brief period. He volunteered at the Fort Hill High School concession stand for many years, was a member of the following: Fort Hill F Club; McKinley Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star; Potomac Lodge No 100, AF Knights of Saint Andrews; Fraternal Loyal Order of Eagles #245; Loyal Order of Moose #271; Barrelville Outdoor Club; Cumberland Outdoor Club; and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks, #63.He had been an avid hunter, reader of western novels, and a loyal Fort Hill football supporter. He enjoyed traveling, having been to 48 of the 50 states, with North Dakota and Alaska remaining. While in the state of Washington, he witnessed the Mt. St. Helen's volcano eruption. He also traveled in Canada and Mexico. He most enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, always being helpful to whomever was in need.He attended Davis Memorial United Methodist Church.Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna Jean (Blank) Liller; his son, Steven Craig Liller, Delmar, DE; daughter, Kimberly Susanne (Liller) Bonner and husband, Richard, of Culpeper, VA; granddaughters, Samantha Lynn Liller, Delmar, DE, Erika Bonner Parkinson and husband, Travis, Culpepper, VA, and Danielle Nichol Bonner and Ross Williams, Culpeper, VA; great-granddaughters, Avery and Olive Parkinson, both of Culpeper, VA; great-grandsons, Isaiah Minor, and Kyori Williams, Culpepper, VA; sisters, Wilma Mallow and husband, Don, Cumberland, and Mary Ayers and husband, John, Cumberland; sisters-in-law, Billie Root, SC, and Flo Liller, Cumberland; brother-in-law, Robert Blank and wife, Dona, Cumberland; along with numerous nieces and nephews.Friends and family will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. Potomac Lodge will conduct their memorial service on Sunday at 4:45 p.m. The Eastern Star McKinley Chapter will honor Bill with a memorial service at 5 p.m.Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Pierson officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior.Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.The pallbearers will be Craig Martin, John Ayers, Jr., Richard Bonner, Gregg Mallow, Gary Mallow, and Carl "Bucky" Stump.
