Obituary

Wilma "Wimp/Wimpy" Wagner, aged 92 of Cumberland, beloved sister and aunt passed away 10/9/2023 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.

Born May 2, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Ernest Holt Sr. and Grace Holt of Barrelville MD. She is predeceased by her husband, William Wagner; brothers, Ernest "Junior" Holt and Dale Holt; sister, Helen May; niece, Connie Marrano; and a great nephew, Josh Truxillo.

Wilma worked for the Monarch Printing Company in Cumberland. She was loved by all who knew her. "Aunt Wimp" had a gift for making everyone feel loved and welcomed, and she had a generous, giving heart. She cherished time spent with family, especially her siblings. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed going to the Charles Town Raceway and hosting friends and family at their camp on the Cacapon River. Wimp and Bill loved fishing on the river. She taught many of her nieces and nephews how to fish. For many years Wimpy loved going to the beach with her two sisters every summer. Aunt Wimp had an ornery streak and a great sense of humor. Her laughter was contagious. She was an optimist, despite her many health challenges, and she lived her life to the fullest.

Surviving is a very special sister, Doris "Dot" Smith, of Cresaptown; six nephews: Ron Smith and wife Jeanne; Larry May and wife Diane; Bill Smith and wife Linda; Bill May and wife Kathy; Tony Holt; and Troy Holt; and six nieces: Debbie Mellotte and husband Dave; Diane Smedley and husband David; Tammy Holt and husband Chuck; Shelley Sullivan and husband Terry; Holly Harris and husband Brad, and Tina Truxillo and husband Dave. Wilma is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews whom she considered all to be her grandchildren.

Special thanks to the staff at Willow Valley Apartments for their kindness and care and to the staff at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.
