Winifred Rae Redick, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Allegany Health Nursing & Rehab, with her family by her side.

She was born in Cumberland on August 6, 1941, to the late Allen and Winifred Fresh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Duckworth; her husband, Thomas Redick; and longtime companion, Jim Hotchkiss.

Wini graduated from Ursuline Academy, and then earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Frostburg State University. She was an art teacher at Allegany High School and Allegany College in Cumberland. She was known for her water color paintings and her love of teaching. She also loved to travel the world, garden – especially her geranium flowers, and take care of her animals. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish and the Allegany Arts Council.

Surviving are her children, Kirk Clayton and wife Tracie of Cumberland, and Jill Clayton and fiancé Allen Lichvar of Short Gap, WV; grandchildren, Brooke Hulsizer and husband Eric of Holly Springs, NC, Dustin Clayton and wife Meghan of Bedford, PA, and Foster Conis of Short Gap, WV; a special niece, Beth Duckworth-Hawley; a very special friend Earleen Wiseman; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allegany Health Nursing & Rehab for their care over the years.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be directed to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566.
