CUMBERLAND – Yvonne Demaris (Kemp) Thomas, 90, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.

Born April 14, 1933, in New Creek, WV, she was a daughter of the late Louise (Spielman) and Earl E. Kemp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Thomas; and her sister, Juanita Bolton.

Yvonne was a 1951 graduate of Keyser High School. She went on to work in the Personnel Department of ABL before beginning her career with the Allegany County Board of Education. She worked as a teacher's aide from 1974 to 2002 at Penn Avenue, South Penn, and the Thomas B. Finan Center.

As a Methodist by faith, Yvonne was a past member of Kingsley United Methodist Church in Cumberland until its closure.

Surviving are her sons, Shawn Thomas and wife Mary Ann, Daytona Beach, FL, and Damon Thomas and wife Natalie, Cumberland, MD.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Seth Thomas and wife Lori, John Thomas and wife Judith, Alison Thomas, and Ryan Thomas; step-grandchildren, Jenelle Pritchard and husband Samuel, and Jessica Davis and husband Edward.

In accordance with her wishes, Yvonne will be cremated.

Services will be private.
